Many would consider this a trap game, coming off an emotional stretch that was capped off with a road game against top rival Michigan, but Mel Tucker will have his guys focused on the task at hand. Losing to Michigan will be demoralizing, but the Spartans will take out their anger on Illinois the following week in Champaign.

Illinois did open the season with a win over Wyoming, but that didn’t tell us a whole lot about the Illini other than the fact that they have a solid run game. Michigan State’s defensive strength is against the run. This is a win.

Prediction: Win (7-2, 4-2)

Now this is a pleasant sight to come back home to. The last time Michigan State hit the road and came home, it faced Ohio State and then Wisconsin. Before that, the Spartans came home to Minnesota. This is the best return home of the season after a road trip because, well, Rutgers should be a comfortable win for the Spartans.

Greg Schiano is making the Scarlet Knights much more respectable, but they’re still not on the level they were a decade ago under his reign the first time.

Michigan State won by multiple scores in Piscataway last year thanks to Payton Thorne, Kenneth Walker III, and Jalen Nailor, and this year it’ll be Jarek Broussard, Thorne, and Jayden Reed leading the way offensively. Big win here.

Prediction: Win (8-2, 5-2)
