Michigan State Football: 3 biggest concerns ahead of 2022 season
2. Replacing Kenneth Walker III
Although I’m not super worried about Michigan State’s ability to replace Kenneth Walker III, I can see why many others are.
Losing the school’s only Doak Walker Award winner and the reining Walter Camp Award recipient is a big blow to the offense, but Mel Tucker went out and landed the 2020 Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year from Colorado and a former four-star running back from Wisconsin.
Tucker brings in Broussard who could be Walker-lite and Berger is going to be the perfect complementary piece to the Colorado transfer.
Outside of Berger and Broussard, the Spartans return Elijah Collins, Harold Joiner, and Jordon Simmons. And maybe all of this depth in the backfield was enough to force Davion Primm to join the defensive side of the ball even after a strong spring.
Replacing Walker’s production is a concern, but I think Michigan State has the pieces to do just that.
