Tre Mosley often goes unnoticed when talking about Michigan State football’s top receiving threats, but that’s a massive mistake.

Tre Mosley was one of Michigan State football’s most clutch players a season ago and he’s not getting nearly enough attention this preseason.

When people talk about the receiving corps, names that come to mind immediately are Jayden Reed and Keon Coleman. Heck, even true freshman Germie Bernard has been mentioned, but we rarely hear Mosley’s name.

Why is this?

It could be because Mosley isn’t the flashiest receiver or the most outspoken. Maybe it’s because Coleman and Reed come with plenty of hype and are plenty outspoken and confident — and deservedly so. They’re the flash while Mosley keeps his head down and gets the job done.

This is why Michigan State might have one of the best starting receiver trios in college football.

Reed and Coleman are flashy and have plenty of athleticism and confidence while Mosley flies under the radar and makes big plays when Michigan State needs them most.

Still, Mosley deserves more recognition, especially coming off his best season as a Spartan where he caught 35 passes for 530 yards and three touchdowns. He made huge catches in clutch situations all season long and was as sure-handed as anyone on the team. As the team’s WR3, he thrived. And he’s going to thrive even more as WR2 in 2022.

Mosley isn’t the biggest, strongest, fastest, or most athletic, but he’s reliable and he moves the sticks regularly. He’s confident in his own way and that’s going to pay off in a big way this year.

So when you hear people talk about Coleman and Reed as Michigan State’s go-to receivers, make sure to remind them that Mosley is also a star and he’s going to put up big numbers in 2022.

It’s a shame more people around the Big Ten don’t know his name. They will soon.
