Germie Bernard is the only freshman who made this list who was actually mentioned by Mel Tucker earlier this week when speaking about first-year players who were showing out in preseason camp.

Like Tucker, I’m incredibly high on Bernard even for this year.

Michigan State lost Jalen Nailor to the NFL this offseason and Tucker admitted that there are a few guys battling it out for the third receiver position in the starting lineup. He mentioned Keon Coleman, Christian Fitzpatrick, and Bernard. Realistically, Bernard might be the most likely freshman to start this season based on need.

While I think Coleman is the obvious starter at WR3 right now, I’m not going to count out Bernard because he’s just that good.

Bernard was one of the last Michigan State commits in the 2022 class after flipping from Washington and he enrolled early and is going to play a big role this year.

Maybe a starting role.
