I’ll admit, I counted Jalen Thompson out of Michigan State’s 2023 class when his official visit was canceled, but the fact that he attended Spartan Dawg Con was a huge development.

Momentum seems to be headed back in Michigan State’s direction here.

Is this due to the fact that the Spartans have missed on some top defensive line targets this summer? Probably, but I also think it’s because Thompson is no slouch. It’s hard to tell a talented kid like this ‘no thanks’ just because there are other top targets on the board. He’s fully capable of being a star in East Lansing one day.

Thompson’s decision timeline hasn’t been released, but I’d bet that he commits to a school sooner rather than later and it’s probably between the Spartans and Ohio State here.

Mel Tucker has to like his chances, especially after getting him to visit for Spartan Dawg Con.

Thompson is ranked the No. 195 overall prospect and the state of Michigan’s third-best recruit for 2023, according to the 247Sports Composite.
