Miles McVay is announcing his college decision on Aug. 11 and you can bet Mel Tucker is continuously recruiting the four-star tackle from Illinois, but he has to catch up to Alabama.

Nick Saban and the Tide are the presumed favorites to land McVay right now, but Tucker probably isn’t ready to just surrender here. I still wouldn’t be confident in Michigan State’s chances because, well, Alabama is Alabama, but McVay and the coaching staff have grown very close over the past year and the Illinois-based tackle loved his official visit to East Lansing.

Oregon and Texas A&M are also in the mix, but I’d probably project the top two right now to be Alabama followed by Michigan State.

Unfortunately, McVay has been trending toward the Tide recently and many believe he’ll be headed to Tuscaloosa, but many also believed that Stanton Ramil was heading to Tennessee.

McVay is the No. 186 prospect in the class and Michigan State stands a real chance here — a small one, but it’s real.
