Folks, it’s officially Xavier Booker day. After announcing a top 10 this week, Booker is ready to commit and it could be to Michigan State basketball.

Happy Xavier Booker day, everyone.

For months, Tom Izzo has been following Booker pretty much wherever he goes, attending just about every one of his games. This hard work has apparently paid off in a big way as Michigan State basketball might be just hours away from landing the five-star.

According to Booker, he’s going to be committing today at 2 p.m. ET.

Booker just released a top 10 earlier this week which included a handful of Big Ten teams and everyone kind of assumed it would be a race between Indiana and Michigan State. Mike Woodson did a great job of getting the Hoosiers back into the race after they were pretty much out of it earlier this year.

It didn’t take Booker long to feel ready to make that commitment official and the feeling here is that Michigan State is the heavy favorite which would make him the highest-rated pledge Izzo has ever landed.

This would make up for the Jabari Parker, Josh Jackson, Caleb Swanigan, and Cliff Alexander recruitments.

Booker is ranked the No. 3 recruit on 247Sports and he’s No. 1 nationally on Rivals. The only reason his composite ranking is at No. 58 is that ESPN doesn’t have him rated very high (he’s the 20th-best power forward on ESPN). That will change eventually.

Izzo’s hard work on the 2023 class is about to pay off in a huge way and the “Izzo is washed” crowd is going to be really quiet this afternoon (hopefully).
