Michigan State basketball in a ‘really nice spot’ with Devin Royal, per recruiting analyst
Michigan State basketball is reportedly in a ‘really nice spot’ with four-star small forward Devin Royal from Ohio, according to a Rivals recruiting expert.
With the 2022 recruiting class officially in the rearview mirror and the 2022-23 season on the horizon, Tom Izzo has his sights set on the 2023 class with a couple of top prospects left on his Michigan State basketball big board.
One of them is obviously five-star big man Xavier Booker who many believe is a top-five prospect in the nation for the class and the other is four-star wing Devin Royal from Pickerington, Ohio.
Izzo has been putting in the work to let each know that they’re priority targets for him and the Spartans and Rivals recruiting analyst Davis Moseley spoke to Sleepers Media about where Michigan State currently stands with the four-star from Ohio.
Hint: it’s good news for the Spartans.
Moseley stated that Michigan State is in a “really nice spot” with Royal and that Rivals has him ranked around No. 90 nationally and that’s just way too low. He went on to say that Rivals could cut his “idiotic” 90th ranking in half and he’d still be about “15-20 spots too low.” He believes that Jeremy Fears and Royal will both end the class as five-star prospects when all the updates are done.
Royal does seem like a perfect fit for Michigan State and he just posted his top nine with the Spartans making the cut and Ohio State may be the biggest threat here.
While Moseley stated that he thinks Michigan State will eventually land Royal over a slew of top programs that are still chasing him, he also projected his way-too-early 2023-24 starting lineup for the Spartans and he included Booker at the four with Jaxon Kohler at the five.
All around, this was a great interview and gave Michigan State fans a glimmer of hope after a long offseason.
