Does Michigan State football have a real shot with 4-star CB Caleb Presley?
Four-star cornerback Caleb Presley released his top six schools on Tuesday and Michigan State football made the cut. Do the Spartans have a real shot?
It’s been a busy month of recruiting for Michigan State football.
The Spartans kicked things off with a huge opening weekend of official visits on June 3 and then concluded with more cars — and actual goats — on the field for the June 24 visits.
Michigan State has made a huge impression on some of the nation’s best recruits, including four-star defensive end Bai Jobe who named the Spartans in his final three on Tuesday, and four-star cornerback Caleb Presley who posted his top six.
The Spartans are in Presley’s top six along with Alabama, UCLA, Oregon, Texas A&M, and Washington. As the only team from the Midwest, the Spartans will have to try and sell him on the program being the next powerhouse from the Big Ten with national titles on the mind. But it’s not going to be easy with Oregon as the clear leader.
Washington is the hometown team that was probably thrown a bone by being named on this list and Texas A&M and Alabama just kill it on the recruiting trail. UCLA is a wild card here.
So what are Michigan State’s chances here?
Outside of the obvious answer of 1-in-6, I’d say the Spartans are probably behind Oregon in terms of his leaders. If he were to choose today, I’m fairly certain it would be the Ducks, but Michigan State made up some ground for him earlier in June but I don’t think it was enough.
Unless Mel Tucker has one final game-changing pitch for him before his official announcement on July 5, I see him picking the Ducks.
