Michigan State Football: Alabama trying to poach 4-star Spartan commit
Four-star wide receiver Demitrius Bell just received a major offer from Alabama as it looks like Michigan State football will have to fight to keep him.
Nick Saban saw what Mel Tucker and Michigan State football were trying to do this weekend with four-star Alabama safety commit Elliot Washington and decided to throw a wrench in the Spartans’ plans.
With Tucker trying to flip Washington during his official visit, Saban decided to play the “eye for an eye” game, offering four-star Spartan receiver pledge Demitrius Bell.
As expected, this is a massive offer for the young wideout and he’ll have to entertain it.
Alabama has produced dozens of NFL players under Saban and the receiver position has thrived, especially in recent seasons. In fact, DeVonta Smith won the Heisman Trophy last season before going to the Philadelphia Eagles in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. This year, Jameson Williams was one of the best receivers in the country before going down with a knee injury in the national title game. The Lions still took him in the first round.
It would be silly for Bell to not even entertain this offer even if he may have to battle it out with high four and five-star receivers for playing time if he did commit to Alabama.
Obviously this is the nature of the beast when you land an under-the-radar recruit who is slowly gaining more attention nationally. Bell is ranked the No. 350 overall prospect and eighth-best player from the state of Tennessee, according to the composite.
Tucker will have to work hard to keep him, especially after losing Jaylon Braxton this week.
Saban is clearly not happy about Tucker trying to steal Washington.
