Michigan State football faces uphill battle in 4-star DL Enow Etta’s recruitment
Four-star defensive lineman Enow Etta has narrowed his list down to four teams but Michigan State football faces an uphill battle to land him.
A couple of weeks ago, it looked like Michigan State football was the clear leader for Enow Etta.
The four-star defensive lineman from Colleyville, Texas, was on his official visit to Michigan State and Mel Tucker seemed to have won him over as the momentum was clearly on his side.
But it only took a few days for that momentum to come to a screeching halt as there was talk of him leaning toward Michigan with a decision coming at any “random” moment. He was gearing up for a visit to Ann Arbor and all was doom and gloom for Michigan State fans.
Even Andrew Depaepe who had recruited Etta heavily was cryptically tweeting about not counting Tucker out. The Etta lean toward Michigan was the worst kept secret in recruiting.
All has been quiet since, however.
On Wednesday, the four-star prospect from Texas released his top four of Stanford, Alabama, Michigan, and Michigan State with the caption “decision soon.”
So what do we make of this?
Well, this top four comes just a few days after his Michigan official visit and two weeks removed from his trip to East Lansing. He is still planning on taking at least one more official before deciding.
Michigan State is hoping that he hasn’t already made a decision because if he were to announce today, the overwhelming feeling is that he’d choose the Wolverines — even MSU insiders Justin Thind and Corey Robinson flipped their crystal ball predictions from the Spartans to Michigan with the confidence level of ‘1’ on Wednesday.
However, Depaepe’s tweet about never counting Coach Tucker needs to be remembered, even if he doesn’t commit to MSU soon. The third-year coach has until signing day to change the top-100 recruit’s mind. It won’t be easy, but Tucker’s recruiting has been “relentless.”
