Alabama taking notice of Michigan State football recruiting efforts
Five-star offensive lineman Samson Okunlola took a trip to Alabama this weekend and it’s clear that the Tide are aware of Michigan State football’s rise.
Imagine a world where Alabama sees Michigan State football as a threat.
I bet you didn’t see that coming about 2-3 years ago when Mark Dantonio retired after a second straight seven-win season three years removed from the last 10-win campaign.
All seemed to be back where it started when Dantonio retired and panic among the fanbase was starting to settle in. Luke Fickell turning the Spartans down to stay at Cincinnati, Pat Narduzzi saying he wasn’t going to take the job, Mel Tucker tweeting that he was staying at Colorado, and former Michigan State assistant turned NFL coach Robert Saleh said ‘no thanks’ and was later named the head coach of the New York Jets.
Michigan State circled back and made an offer to Tucker that he couldn’t refuse and it turns out that it was the best thing to happen to the program.
Tucker has brought the excitement back and the program has some serious juice.
So much so, in fact, that Alabama is taking notice and trolling Michigan State on the recruiting trail through five-star offensive line target Samson Okunlola.

In case you don’t get the “rings over Lambos” shot, it’s in reference to Michigan State rolling out a Lamborghini for Okunlola to take a picture with during his visit last week. Alabama is basically saying, you may have the cool cars and flash, but we have the substance.
Look, it’s a fair shot, so no need to even get mad over it. Think of this more as a compliment. The Tide have taken notice and felt the need to say this regarding MSU in comparison to Alabama.
Never in a million years did I think the Tide would be competing this hard against Michigan State for a five-star recruit but that’s the Tucker effect.
