Michigan State football made the top seven schools for one of the top targets in the 2023 class in four-star cornerback Chance Rucker.

Spring ball is in the books and you know what that means — it’s top schools list season.

Michigan State football has made a number of top targets’ top schools lists over the past couple of weeks and the Spartans made another one on Monday evening.

Four-star ‘Plan A’ cornerback target Chance Rucker released his top seven on Monday and Michigan State was listed along with Cal, Nebraska, Arkansas, Baylor, TCU, and Florida.

Rucker is the No. 260 overall recruit in the country and the 27th-best cornerback out of Denton, Texas, according to 247Sports’ composite. He holds nearly two dozen offers and for Michigan State to make that cut, they had to have made a huge impression.

Oh, and getting his first — and currently only — official visit this summer on June 3 is also a good sign for Mel Tucker and Co. The Spartans feel like one of his top 2-3 options right now.

Being a Texas native, however, could keep Baylor and TCU high up on his list, and Arkansas and Florida could be right up there because he’s right near SEC country. Nebraska has been recruiting at a higher level this cycle so Scott Frost is the Spartans’ top Big Ten competition.

Rucker is one of Michigan State’s ‘Plan A’ targets in the class and Tucker is aiming to land some defensive back help and he’s near the top of the list.

Michigan State is in a good spot here.
