Michigan State football is one step closer to landing four-star offensive tackle Chase Bisontis after making his top five on Saturday.

Mel Tucker is approaching one of the biggest weeks of his tenure with Michigan State football thus far, getting set to host a number of the nation’s top recruits to begin the month of June.

The entire month of June is packed with elite visitors scheduled and the latest to plan an official is four-star ‘Plan A’ target Chase Bisontis.

Bisontis is one of the top prospects in the nation, ranked No. 58 overall and the fifth-best offensive tackle, according to the composite. He’s also New Jersey’s top recruit.

On Saturday, Michigan State drew one step closer to landing Bisontis, making his top five. Along with the Spartans, Texas A&M, Rutgers, LSU, and Georgia also made his list.

This is a fantastic development for Tucker and the Spartans because his recruitment seems fairly wide open and any one of his five finalists has a legit shot at landing him. Plus, Michigan State will be hosting him on the same weekend (June 17) as a few other top offensive line targets. He could either use this as an opportunity to develop a rapport with future offensive line teammates or see it as a chance to commit while there’s still a spot for him up front — though I think there will always be room.

Another aspect that could help the Spartans here is the fact that Bisontis was high school teammates with incoming transfer Jalen Berger at Don Bosco Prep in New Jersey.

If Michigan State can land Bisontis, it could set off a domino effect of commitments from top offensive line targets. There’s no shortage of talent on the board for Tucker and Chris Kapilovic.
