I’m really excited about the possibility of Jaden Akins joining Michigan State’s starting five next season with Max Christie moving on.

While I think Christie would have been the perfect shooting guard for Michigan State next year, likely taking a massive sophomore jump, Akins has legit superstar potential. He played well as a true freshman, averaging 3.4 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 0.6 steals while shooting 38 percent from deep in over 14 minutes per game as a freshman.

Akins showed flashes of brilliance last season and had some games that had fans clamoring for more. All you have to do is go back and watch the tape from the Baylor game to realize that his potential is through the roof.

Likely to see his minutes double without any wing depth, Akins may become the most improved player on the roster and if you’re looking for a breakout player, here he is.

Tyson Walker could also start here, but I see him coming off the bench with the ability to play both guard spots.
