Michigan State Football: Early look at top 2023 NFL Draft prospects
While I really like Jacoby Windmon, Aaron Brule was a legitimate NFL draft prospect before the 2021 season and there was talk of him being a Day 2 pick. But he didn’t have quite the season he would have hoped for after a breakout in 2020 with Mississippi State.
In fact, he finished with 74 tackles, eight tackles for loss, four sacks, and three pass breakups in 11 games in 2020 but followed that up with 53 tackles, eight tackles for loss, and three sacks with one pass breakup in 2021. Still, 127 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, and seven sacks over the past two seasons should be enough to draw some NFL interest.
Plus, Michigan State is only going to help him get better. For the first time in his career, he’ll be playing for a contender and that can sometimes help a player realize their potential.
Brule is quick, aggressive, and plays with a chip on his shoulder. He’s going to be a star for the Spartans this season and if there’s a player outside Haladay who should be penciled in as a sure starter at linebacker, it’s Brule.
