Michigan State Football: 5 best landing spots for Kenneth Walker III in NFL draft
In a few days, Kenneth Walker III will go from “Michigan State football standout” to NFL rookie. He will hear his name called, but will it be on Thursday or Friday.
Kenneth Walker III transferred to Michigan State after compiling back-to-back seasons of 579 rushing yards at Wake Forest. When he landed at MSU, he took the starting role and never looked back, having one of the best statistical seasons in MSU history. He put up 1,636 yards and 19 total touchdowns as he led the Spartans to a berth in the Peach Bowl.
Walker went on to win the Doak Walker Award for the nation’s top running back as well as the Walter Camp Award, which rewards the nation’s top player, as decided by FBS coaches and sports information directors.
The All-American is a dynamic player on and off the field as he is one of the most humble, down-to-earth players you will ever meet.
After he was thrust into the spotlight in an offensive eruption against Northwestern, Walker thanked Mel Tucker for “taking a chance” on him. Every time Walker was praised and asked about his skills, he would deflect the blame to his lineman, his receivers for downfield blocks, or the play calling. All of these are factors in helping Walker generate his video game-like numbers, but they are not the reason for K9’s success.
At the combine, Walker III validated his position as a top draft prospect, running a blazing 4.38 40-time as well as performing in the top 10 of his other drills. He also showed off his hands during the drills, making great catches in stride, answering one of his biggest questions by draft critics.
That being said, where are five locations where Kenneth Walker III can land on Thursday or Friday and make an immediate impact?
