Michigan State football makes cut for 3 top CBs in the 2023 class
Michigan State football has made the top schools lists for three of the top cornerbacks in the 2023 class with decisions looming.
Just yesterday, I talked about how important it would be for Mel Tucker to put the full-court press on four-star cornerback Daylen Austin in the 2023 class after Michigan State football made his top eight, and since I wrote that, the Spartans have made the cut for two more four-stars.
Austin is one of the top cornerbacks in the class, but the Spartans made even more headlines by making the top school lists of Avieon Terrell and Caleb Presley.
Presley is the highest-rated of the group and he listed the Spartans in his top 12 on Friday.
The four-star cornerback from Washington has a loaded list with primarily Pac-12 programs like Oregon, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Utah, and the home-state Huskies. Along with these Pac-12 programs, Alabama, Notre Dame, LSU, Michigan, Texas A&M, and Michigan State also made the cut.
To say that the Spartans are facing a tough battle for Presley would be an understatement. He’s the No. 83 overall prospect in the class and ninth-best cornerback, per the composite.
As mentioned before, the Spartans made the top eight of Austin who is ranked the No. 141 overall recruit and he’s the 15th-best cornerback, reigning from Long Beach, Calif.
Lastly, on Saturday, Michigan State made the top five of Terrell, a four-star from Atlanta, Ga.
Terrell is the younger brother of AJ Terrell who was a star cornerback for Clemson which makes the Tigers probably the team to beat for his services. He’s ranked the No. 284 overall recruit and No. 31 cornerback in the class.
Along with Eddie Pleasant III, any combination of Terrell, Presley, or Austin would make for one heck of a class for the Spartans at cornerback.
