Michigan State football is trending for three of the top prospects in the 2023 class. Mel Tucker’s third class is shaping up nicely.

Another spring is in the books and Michigan State football has some serious recruiting momentum on its side thanks to Mel Tucker and his relentless coaching staff.

The Spartans picked up a commitment from Eddie Pleasant III shortly after the spring game which drew 40-plus recruits from the 2023 through 2025 classes. He wasn’t on campus for the game but rather was in East Lansing the weekend prior which means that there’s still a good chance Michigan State will benefit from all the juice generated from the spring game.

There could be some spring game attendees who will commit to the green and white soon.

If you follow the crystal ball trends on 247Sports, there are three names in the 2023 class who could soon announce their verbal commitments to the Spartans.

Who are they?

The first is Enow Etta who picked up a few crystal balls for Michigan State shortly after the spring game and the consensus feeling around the four-star defensive lineman has been “Spartan lean” for weeks. Michigan State’s four-star defensive end commit Andrew Depaepe has been recruiting him heavily for a while and his visit may have just put the Spartans over the top. He’s ranked the No. 58 overall recruit on 247Sports.

Next, there’s Elliot Washington who is a four-star Alabama defensive back commit who chose to check out Michigan State’s spring game on April 16 rather than the Tide’s. The four-star safety from Florida is ranked the No. 131 overall recruit in the country. This would be a massive flip and the Spartans are the new crystal ball leader.

Lastly, the Spartans are the overwhelming crystal ball favorite for four-star defensive lineman Jalen Thompson from Detroit (Mich.) Cass Tech. He’s the No. 206 overall recruit in the class and would make a heck of a trio with Etta and Depaepe on the defensive line.

There will be more commitments in the near future, but keep an eye on these three.

Next. Way-too-early projected starting 5 for 2022-23. dark
