MSU Football: 7 players trending up after 2022 spring game
Christian Fitzpatrick looked good during on the field drills for the Spartans, with a handful of great catches as well as looking as sure-handed as any receiver. He hauled in a 35-yard pass after finding a hole in the coverage during some of the wide receiver against defensive back drills.
Fitzpatrick taking a step forward will certainly benefit the Spartans, as they lost Jalen Nailor to the draft. When Nailor went down with an injury last year, there was a hole for the Spartans that Montorie Foster did not fully replace. Foster was injured this spring, and Fitzpatrick appeared to shine in these open reps.
Would I buy this stock?
Not necessarily. During the live scrimmage and two-minute drill, Keon Coleman took most of the reps at wide receiver that were open. Additionally, I have not saw many mentions of Fitzpatrick during the press conferences.
However, he provided a few “wow” moments that show the promise of more for the Southfield native. Jayden Reed graduates after this upcoming season, and Fitzpatrick certainly showed he has the potential to fill that spot. Fitzpatrick should see a lot more of the field this year, and I feel a lot more confident about the receiving corps should we have an injury mid-season.
