5-star RB Rueben Owens could see himself playing for Michigan State football
Michigan State football hosted five-star running back Rueben Owens on Saturday and he had some interesting things to say about the visit.
There were a number of stars in East Lansing this past weekend for the spring game and Michigan State football made up some ground in some important recruiting battles.
Guys like Enow Etta, Jalen Thompson, and Jordan Hall made return trips to East Lansing and those guys were all on commit watch while there were other surprise stars such as Rueben Owens, David Hicks, and Elliot Washington who took in East Lansing over other big-time programs on Saturday. It was surprising to see them all at Michigan State while Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State all held their annual spring games over the weekend.
Heck, Washington is even an Alabama commit and didn’t make his way to Tuscaloosa, choosing Michigan State instead.
But Owens is one of the biggest names on Michigan State’s board as a five-star running back with teams like Texas, Alabama, Texas A&M, Georgia, and USC high on his list and offers from just about everyone.
According to Corey Robinson of 247Sports, he spoke highly of his visit and had an all-time quote about his potential future in the green and white:
The first interesting part of the quote was him saying he’s going to be back for an official visit which is a huge win for Michigan State already because he only has five and there are teams like Georgia, Texas, Alabama, USC, and Texas A&M all hoping to get one.
“Coach Tucker is the King of East Lansing, I can see myself as the Prince of East Lansing.”
Not only is that an all-timer, but it also shows that he’s willing to give Michigan State a real shot in this recruitment because he can see himself in East Lansing for a few years.
Owens is ranked the No. 17 overall recruit in the 2023 class as well as the nation’s top running back, according to the composite. Tucker continues to impress on the trail.
