Michigan State football shockingly dropped from race for 4-star S Ryan Yaites
Michigan State football looked like the leader for four-star safety Ryan Yaites not too long ago but the Spartans were dropped from the running on Thursday.
A couple of weeks ago, Michigan State football looked like the clear leader for four-star Texas-based safety Ryan Yaites and he had a visit scheduled for the spring game. On top of that, he planned on taking an official to East Lansing over the summer before making a decision.
Heck, Yaites even took a visit a couple of weeks ago and everything seemed normal.
Then rumors swirled about him trying to commit on his visit and the staff telling him to hold off. While those seemed like wild rumors with no basis, they’re looking more likely now as he released a top-four on Thursday, and Michigan State did not make the cut.
Yaites pushed up his commitment date to Friday at 8:30 a.m. CST and his finalists, according to a report, are LSU, Cal, Ole Miss, and Texas Tech.
And if crystal balls truly mean anything, chances are he’s going to end up at LSU.
Texas Tech was the leader at one point, Michigan State followed as the top team to beat, and now LSU has received a steady influx of crystal balls over the past 24 hours. It looks like Brian Kelly and the new staff down in Baton Rouge like Yaites quite a bit to put on the full-court press even with Michigan State rumored to have slowed things down.
Yaites is currently ranked the No. 128 overall recruit and seventh-best safety in the 2023 class, according to the composite.
Michigan State just made the top schools list of four-star safety Marvin Burks Jr. so maybe the staff will put the full-court press on there to make up for this head-scratching loss.
