Michigan State is in a battle with Brian Kelly and LSU for four-star interior offensive lineman Cole Dellinger from Clarkston, Mich. While it seems like that’s a random two-team battle for a kid from Clarkston but Cole’s older brother, Garrett, is a former blue-chip lineman who currently plays for the Tigers.

But Mel Tucker is close to swaying him away from his brother in Baton Rouge and to East Lansing for his collegiate career. That’s no easy feat.

Dellinger, too, has been trending toward Michigan State in the crystal ball world and it feels like the Spartans are close to sealing the deal here. He just visited last weekend and it looks as if the relationship between him and Chris Kapilovic is only getting stronger. Plus, the Spartans are recruiting about 7-8 high-level offensive linemen and the spots are going to fill up quickly.

Before he potentially loses his spot, I think Dellinger will start a domino effect with a commitment in April and we’ll see a few more linemen verbally pledge as well.

Dellinger is ranked the No. 278 overall recruit and 17th-best interior offensive lineman in the class.

Next. Way-too-early projected starting 5 for 2022-23. dark
