Michigan State football is trending heavily for four-star safety Ryan Yaites from Denton, Texas. The Spartans could be close to adding a top-150 recruit.

With basketball season officially in the rearview mirror for Tom Izzo and the Spartans, all the attention has turned to Michigan State football and spring practice.

While the football team is under the microscope now, especially with so many storylines to follow such as the infusion of new talent from the 2022 class and new coaches like Brandon Jordan and Marco Coleman leading the defensive line, recruiting is going to take center stage all offseason because that’s what fuels fans’ excitement during the offseason.

The Spartans haven’t had a 2023 class commitment since early February when they had a string of pledges from Andrew Depaepe, Johnathan Slack, and Bo Edmundson.

Now the sights turn to the other top targets and planning official visits for the summer.

However, Michigan State could be close to landing fourth four-star in the 2023 class in the form of one of the top safeties in the country, Ryan Yaites.

Michigan State picked up a handful of crystal balls for Yaites this week and the Denton, Texas, native looks like a heavy Spartan lean ahead of Texas Tech. LSU and California are also high on his list but Michigan State seems to have made up some serious ground, and then some.

The No. 131 overall recruit and seventh-best safety in the 2023 class is expected to take an unofficial visit to East Lansing for the spring game and then his first official in June.

Don’t be shocked if he commits on one of those trips to East Lansing.

Next. Way-too-early projected starting 5 for 2022-23. dark
