Michigan State added a cornerback with quite the resume this offseason as Ameer Speed comes over from Georgia after beginning the 2021 season as a starter and winning a national title.

When asked by reporters this past week if Michigan State has the pieces to win it all, he claimed that the Spartans were close. That’s music to fans’ ears. It also shows that he knows what it takes to win and I think he’s going to have a massive impact on the defensive side of the ball despite having just 25 career tackles before coming to East Lansing.

Speed fills a major need for the defense as the secondary was one of the worst in the nation last year as teams were able to sling it all over the Spartans.

The Georgia transfer could help bring back the “No Fly Zone” and that starts this spring.

I think we’ll see Speed step up as a starter for Michigan State this spring along with Charles Brantley or Ronald Williams on the other side of the field.

Imagine the Spartans start two former SEC starting cornerbacks in 2022. What could go wrong?
