You could probably throw a huge asterisk next to the center position. There is just so much uncertainty here heading into the 2022-23 season.

Much like the point guard position after last season, Tom Izzo needs to take a look in the portal and potentially land one of the top names who could be on the market. Some names that I’m hoping to see hit the portal for Michigan State this offseason as Trayce Jackson-Davis and Trevion Williams. Both would immediately upgrade the Spartans’ center position.

But Marcus Bingham, too, could always make the decision to come back and lock in on a potentially monster fifth season. He has the potential, but we never got to see it consistently.

That leaves Julius Marble and Mady Sissoko to carry the load at center before any changes are made to the roster or decisions are made. Marble had a really tough go of things against Duke which cast a shadow on an astounding effort by the Spartans. Many fans began to worry about the future at the position with Marble struggling so much defensively and having a nightmare offensive game.

Marble did finish the year averaging 6.4 points and 3.4 rebounds but he was a liability on the defensive end which will be a major drop-off from Bingham if he doesn’t opt to return and if Izzo decides not to address the position in the portal.

I have a feeling this position will be addressed.
