1. Michigan State is playing its best basketball in months

Believe it or not, Michigan State is playing its best basketball since late January right now. The Spartans ended a winning streak drought in the Big Ten Tournament, piling up a three-game streak after beating Maryland twice (once to end the regular season) and then Wisconsin in the quarterfinals.

The Spartans were close to winning four straight but lost to Purdue in a tight one in the Big Ten Tournament semifinals. Even in the loss, Michigan State played well enough to win, but a cold offense in spurts did it in.

Michigan State’s defense has turned a corner as of late, the offense isn’t turning the ball over as much, and we’ve seen guys like Julius Marble, Malik Hall, Marcus Bingham, AJ Hoggard, Tyson Walker, Gabe Brown, and Max Christie play some of their best basketball in weeks.

If this team can continue to improve defensively and these guys continue to trend upward, Michigan State is going to be one of the toughest outs in the West Region and a serious threat to Gonzaga to make a Final Four.

I would not be shocked if this team pulled a 2015 Michigan State and made a surprise Final Four run as a 7-seed.
