2. The seniors stepped up

It was good to see the senior leaders step up and do just what they’ve been expected to do all season: bring the energy and lead.

Marcus Bingham got off to a red-hot start, scoring eight points in the first few minutes to give the Spartans a quick 11-0 lead before Maryland called a timeout. He finished the game with 12 points and 11 rebounds which is one of just a few double-doubles this season but that’s a good sign heading into the Big Ten Tournament.

Gabe Brown found his shot again, hitting 3-for-7 for 10 points and he was just all over the floor on hustle plays. He had two rebounds, two steals, and two assists.

Lastly, Joey Hauser was quiet offensively but still had a solid game. He had just three points on a big 3-pointer in the second half and added five rebounds and five assists. He just continues to improve as the season progresses.

All three of these guys could come back (doubtful, but possible) and if they do and play like this consistently, Michigan State will improve drastically next season.
