3. Marcus Bingham’s offense is lacking

Through the last few games, the offensive playmaking of Marcus Bingham has been lacking. He is often caught standing around the perimeter after a pick-and-roll play. It almost appears like the play is supposed to be a pick-and-pop situation. If that’s the case, there is a major problem with a 7-footer hanging out near the perimeter.

Early in the season, Bingham was much more confident in his ability to hang near the basket and utilize the post moves on the block. Since Big Ten play has started and especially since Bingham has been back from COVID-19, he has been different. He is not as confident in his ability. He is struggling to find a rhythm. He needs to find those two things again on Sunday for Senior Day.

One way Bingham can find this confidence is just to assert himself down low. Use those legs and body and don’t get pushed off the block. Another thing is to use the pick-and-roll and actually roll after the pick. It was just a few months ago Bingham did this to perfection to throw down a game-winning dunk at the buzzer. He needs to get back to this style of play instead of taking jumpers.

Bingham has been a bright spot on defense though still. Not as effective as earlier this season but he has taken the record for most career blocks from Xavier Tillman and continues to add to those numbers.
