2. Michigan State makes Big Ten Tournament title game

There’s a fairly good chance Michigan State finishes outside of the top four in the conference standings which would only give the Spartans a single bye instead of a double. This would be the second straight year of such an occurrence.

Despite only getting a single bye and having to play on Thursday, Michigan State will capture some momentum after a strong regular-season finish.

The Spartans will win their first game to earn a Friday quarterfinal matchup and then win a second game in a row to get to the semifinal. Tom Izzo is a master at getting his teams ready on short turnarounds so this third game in three days won’t be an issue.

Michigan State will win the semifinal matchup, adding to that resume, and it’ll get to the conference title game. Will we see a rematch with Purdue or Wisconsin or Illinois? I think so, and I think the Spartans would beat the latter two while Purdue would get revenge.

Izzo and the Spartans at least make it to the title game and will hold a 24-10 record on Selection Sunday before the conclusion of the tourney. This may even earn them a No. 4 seed in the Big Dance.
