Michigan State basketball enters the month of March in a bit of a slump. Will the Spartans get hot at the right time and make a run?

February was a nightmare for Michigan State basketball. Almost every year, the Spartans suffer a bit of a slump in the middle of conference play, but this one lasted longer than usual as Michigan State was just 3-5 in February, recording both two-game and three-game losing streaks.

The Spartans ended the month with a signature win over No. 4 Purdue in which they controlled the entire game and looked like the superior team. Will they be able to build on this in March?

This is when Tom Izzo usually thrives, but does he have the leaders on the roster to put together a deep run? Less talented teams with lesser leaders have made Final Four runs under Izzo before, so you can’t count this team out just yet.

How will March play out?

3. MSU wins at least two of final three games

This might not seem all that bold, but after a 3-5 month of February, finishing the regular season 3-1 is a heck of a turnaround. Going at least 2-1 — and maybe even 3-0 — in the final three games would be a heck of an accomplishment, considering the Spartans have road games at Michigan and Ohio State which will both be massive tests.

Michigan State will find a way to at least split the two road games and take care of Maryland on Senior Day to finish the regular season.

Heading into the Big Ten Tournament with a 21-10 record and 12-8 mark in conference play may not be what everyone expected a few weeks ago, but considering the recent slump, this would be a victory. Michigan State will finish strong and win at least two of the final three in a loaded last week of play.
