1. MSU wins back-to-back games for the first time in a month

It’s hard to believe Michigan State hasn’t won back-to-back games in a month, but it’s been that kind of stretch for Tom Izzo and the Spartans.

The month of February was a nightmare for Michigan State as it went just 3-5 even though it began with a solid road win against Maryland. That road win followed up a convincing 16-point home win over Michigan which ended the month of January and it felt like the Spartans were headed in the right direction. That positivity was short-lived.

Michigan State lost to Rutgers and Wisconsin back-to-back before bouncing back to beat Indiana by 15. The Spartans then lost three more in a row against Penn State, Illinois, and Iowa which could have easily been a 2-1 stretch if not for a meltdown against the Nittany Lions and a late comeback falling short against the Illini.

But what better game to record a second straight win against for the first time in a month than the Spartans’ biggest rival? Also, this would be the record-breaking win for Tom Izzo as a Big Ten coach, surpassing Bobby Knight.

The Spartans will get out to a quick start and hold on for a tight win in Ann Arbor.
