Kristian “Big Dooley” Phillips (No. 1,074 nationally, No. 56 IOL) brings length and size (6-foot-6, 340 pounds) to the Spartan front. He was relatively unknown in recruiting, with 247Sports only listing three offers, with Arizona State being the only other Power Five offer.

Phillips was the first commit of the 2022 cycle for the Spartans. The Conyers, Ga., native will be interesting to watch in the next few years for Michigan State. With a small offer list and prospect ranking, this may be more of a “project” signing for Chris Kapilovic. If anyone can maximize offensive line projects, it would be the Spartans (hello, Jack Conklin).

Projection

Redshirt. His size speaks for itself, but his offer list tells another story. Give Phillips a few years to get acclimated to the pace of the Big Ten, and we might have an offensive linemen of mass destruction. Phillips will need at least a full offseason before he can be considered a serious threat to crack the two-deep, so this will be another “wait and see” player for the Spartans.
