While Jason Brooks Jr. wasn’t a highly-rated prospect in the 2020 class, he turned into a solid player for the Commodores in 2021. He played in five games and started one last season and he was projected to compete for a starting job for Vanderbilt in 2022, according to Corey Robinson.

Mel Tucker has been very selective when extending scholarships to portal players so even though Brooks doesn’t have a ton of playing experience and wasn’t a highly-rated recruit, he must show something on film that the head coach and Chris Kapilovic like. He has great size for the interior at 6-4 and 295 pounds.

Nick Samac returns as a projected starter and Matt Carrick should be healthy along with JD Duplain so Brooks would add plenty of depth on the interior of that offensive line despite some attrition via graduation and the transfer portal.
