2. Tyson Walker leads the Spartans in scoring again

It’s hard to believe that a talented roster such as Michigan State’s has struggled so much to score the ball, but that’s been the case for the past few weeks. The Spartans get off to slow starts and have been ice-cold from the floor more often than not during that stretch.

But to break out of a shooting slump against Illinois, Tom Izzo gave Tyson Walker the ultimate green light in the second half as he scored 26 points and was piping-hot.

Playing AJ Hoggard and Walker at the same time seemed to have paid major dividends because the former is an elite distributor and the latter is more of a scorer. That way they can play off each other and into each other’s strengths. Walker was 9-for-10 from the floor in the second half and he showed that he can be an elite scoring threat when given the chance. That will continue.

Walker is going to build off that performance and lead Michigan State in scoring for a second straight game, finishing with 18 points on 6-for-11 shooting. He’s going to play well and give this offense the boost it needs.

Will it be enough?
