1. Michigan State got back to the basics

Things got pretty chippy on Saturday afternoon and this was exactly the type of physical game the Spartans needed. They didn’t back down from the Hoosiers and out-toughed Indiana until the final whistle. They were diving for loose balls, playing with an edge, and just playing that typical brand of Michigan State basketball that made it a top-10 team for a couple of months.

Point guard play got back on track, the Spartans didn’t have a ton of egregious turnovers (though they did have 15), and they were moving the ball around and taking good shots.

Michigan State took every Indiana punch and countered with a few of their own. The Spartans responded to every mini Indiana spurt with one of their own and that’s something we hadn’t seen in weeks. If this is what Michigan State needed to get back on track, watch out, Big Ten.

Gabe Brown didn’t even score a single point and the bench out-scored the starters and yet Michigan State won by 15 points.

This is a perfect slump-buster. Let’s see how the Spartans respond at Penn State.
