Michigan State Basketball: 3 takeaways from bounce-back win over Indiana
2. Malik Hall is Michigan State’s best player
Some of us have been campaigning for Malik Hall to get a shot in the starting lineup and he proved himself worthy yet again on Saturday afternoon.
After coming in off the bench, Malik had one of his best games of the season, putting up a game-high 18 points, five rebounds, a block, and an assist. He was tough on the defensive end and didn’t give up any easy buckets in the paint and just brought the energy that the Spartans needed.
This is what leaders do. This is what captains do. This is what teams’ best players do.
And that’s what Malik is: Michigan State’s best player.
The debate has raged on for months now about the team’s best player. Was it Marcus Bingham? Max Christie? Gabe Brown? It’s fairly clear now that the answer is Hall.
It’s time to insert him into the starting lineup with Hoggard and avoid those slow starts with the energy all out on the floor. Malik is that dude.
