Michigan State football announced on Thursday that fans will now be able to purchase custom jerseys of their favorite players next season.

On Thursday, Michigan State football announced that fans can now purchase custom MSU football jerseys and start representing their favorite Spartans in the fall of 2022, just in time for the new football season to commence.

The Spartans, Nike, and Fanatics have all teamed up and have agreed to start selling jerseys next season. This is huge not only for the fans who can finally start representing their favorite college players. But also for the player. With every jersey purchased a portion of that money is going to the player who had a jersey purchased.

For example, if you go out and purchase a Jayden Reed jersey next fall, he will get a percentage of the profit made on the jersey. Not only are you getting something you will love but you are also helping these players advance the bar in this new age of NIL deals and helping them earn money off of their image and likeness.

This could only be the beginning.

We have already seen other players take advantage of these NIL opportunities such as defensive back Darius Snow who has designed his merchandise line and is working with an ice cream company to create the Darius Snow-Cone. This jersey deal opens up a lot for what the university can do in the future,

Such as, could they start doing this for basketball? Could we start seeing this be done for all the major sports at Michigan State?

This is helpful for players that may not have the time or know where to start with getting stuff out there and making a profit with their name. This helps them get their foot in the door and hopefully we start seeing more stuff like this happen not only for MSU but for schools and student-athletes across the country.
