Michigan State Basketball: 3 keys for bouncing back to beat Indiana
By Nate Rhoades
1. Fast-break points
Michigan State loves to get out and run and get those fast-break points. However, they have been struggling to get out in transition. Credit their opponents for getting back on defense quickly, but some are just bad passes leading to turnovers.
The Spartans can get into transition offense if they play tough defense. Their defense leads to offense in so many cases but that has not been happening recently. They let Rutgers, the worst shooting team in the Big Ten, shoot over 60 percent from the floor. They let the Badgers shoot 47 percent from the floor. This defense needs to step it up and play tough, tight defense.
When this defense is on, it’s causing some turnovers so they can get out and run but tough defense is also forcing harder. They would have rebound the ball but that is another way they can get out in transition.
Michigan State also likes to get into transition after a made shot. They have to get out and get their transition offense going in this contest because when the Spartans are running they have been a much better team.
