1. Defense, defense, defense

Many say that defense wins championships. The type of defense the Spartans played against Rutgers was not one that will win them a championship. If the Spartans keep this level of defense up against the Badgers, Wisconsin will win big.

Wisconsin’s best player, Johnny Davis, needs to be limited. They Spartans did a good job of limiting Davis’ production even though he scored 19 points in their last matchup. What the Spartans did in that game, though, was switch who was defending Davis, giving him different looks and it caused him to shoot somewhat poorly.

Michigan State is a top-50 team defensively. They have to show this stout defense against Wisconsin because the Badgers are also a top-50 team defensively. So if the Spartans cannot defend,

they are going to have another long night. Limit Davis and play tough defense. That is the defensive strategy that should be applied going into this game.

If the Spartans can get more production from than stars, along with playing much better defense and limiting mental mistakes, they will be in this game and be able to put themselves in position to pick up another quality win.

Prediction: MSU 74, Wisconsin 70
