Michigan State Basketball: 3 bold predictions for road battle at Rutgers
2. Marcus Bingham Jr. records a double-double
This may not seem like the boldest of predictions, but since missing the High Point game after testing positive for COVID-19, Marcus Bingham Jr. has exactly zero double-doubles.
In fact, Bingham hasn’t recorded more than 10 rebounds in a game since December when he had back-to-back double-doubles before testing positive. He was red-hot before the virus took him down a notch and he hasn’t quite been able to put up the same numbers since.
Not only has he been held under 10 rebounds in each game since, but he has also only scored in double figures twice in that stretch. That’s going to change against Rutgers.
Something about playing against talented bigs really brings out the best in Bingham and we saw that when he faced Hunter Dickinson a couple of weeks ago. He’s facing one of the bright young bigs in the league in Clifford Omoruyi who averages about 11 points and eight rebounds and he’ll win the battle down low. His length will cause problems.
Bingham will finish with 11 points and 11 rebounds and he’ll even block four shots. He’s going to be a defensive stopper for the Spartans on Saturday.
