Most likely to have an instant impact

For this category, we’re going to tackle both an offensive and defensive recruit who will most likely have an immediate impact in 2022.

Offense: Germie Bernard

This was a tough choice as I was thinking of Jack Nickel in this spot as well, but Germie Bernard’s commitment kind of felt like it would be met with early playing time.

Michigan State is losing Jalen Nailor to the NFL draft but bringing back Tre Mosley and Jayden Reed will ease that blow. Then you add in Keon Coleman to the mix and a freshman like Bernard and you have one of the best receiving corps in the conference. I think Bernard is good enough to earn a spot on the two-deep right away.

The 6-2, 195-pound receiver is going to crack the rotation early and his frame is already college-ready and the fact that he’s an early enrollee only helps matters.

Defense: Alex VanSumeren

I was going to choose Caleb Coley for this category because I truly think he’s going to be one of the best recruits in the class for the Spartans but Alex VanSumeren is just that good.

In a recent signing day interview with the media, VanSumeren said there were no major adjustments for him since enrolling at Michigan State and that’s a good sign. Mel Tucker has spoken very highly of the true freshman and the line will need him to step up next season.

VanSumeren has a frame that’s ready for an immediate impact and he should crack that two-deep on the interior of the line.
