The Iowa Hawkeyes have been a decent team this year, flying under the radar. They have some key components from last year’s squad. They are led by a surging Keegan Murray who will try to give the Spartans fits. Four Hawkeyes are shooting over 35 percent from deep and two more are just under that. This is a shooting team and they can score in bunches.

Michigan State, however, is a great defensive team. The Spartans are one of the best at closing out and not giving up good looks from deep. They are also one of the best helping defenses who step out on picks and watch the back door.

Max Christie is a freshman but all season has been known to shut down the opponent’s star. The Spartans will also be on a rebound frenzy after a tough outing in their last game and will grind out a close one in Iowa.

Prediction: Michigan State 72, Iowa 68 (22-5, 13-3)

Purdue is one of the best teams in the country, with one of the best frontcourts in Zach Edey and Trevion Williams who was the man last year who buried the Spartans in the last 10 minutes of the game and he will try to do the same here.

The Spartans struggle when they have to play the Purdue and it will show. Jaden Ivey will have a showcase game but he will be the only one.

Michigan State always seems to play Purdue at the beginning of February when they are just coming out of a slow slump. Now, this year, they play at the end of the month when the Spartans are normally rolling. They will play one of their best games and Joey Hauser has some unfinished business against this team and he will be unstoppable. He will be on a revenge game since it was him who Williams hit the game-winner over last year. He will not let that happen this year.

Prediction: Michigan State 65, Purdue 60 (23-5, 14-3)

Michigan State will have a great month of February even though this is their toughest month according to their schedule. The Spartans will get rolling and prove themselves to be a top contender come March.

This is the month where they have breakout games and show just how strong they can be.
