1. Michigan State showed serious toughness

You have to give it up to Michigan State for going on the road and picking up one of its biggest wins in years, beating the No. 8 Badgers on the road.

Michigan State found itself down 8-0 early on and it looked like the Spartans were going to get run out of the gym, but Tom Izzo got his team settled down and their scored six straight points and went into a timeout down by just two points.

Michigan State went on a 20-5 run after falling behind 8-0 early and then cruised, holding the lead for the remainder of the game. It was a dominant win for the Spartans as they held a 10-plus point lead throughout and looked like the clearly better team all night outside of the first couple of minutes.

Right when it looked like the Spartans were tested mentally and were going to just shrivel into mediocrity after a handful of bad games since Christmas break, they went on the road and picked up a 86-74 win over Wisconsin in Madison.

This is the type of win that makes a loss to Northwestern at home look all the more curious.

The Spartans are mentally tough.
