Michigan State football making a major run at 4-star WR Germie Bernard
Michigan State football is making a run at four-star recently-signed Washington receiver Germie Bernard, according to reports.
Right when it looked like Michigan State football’s 2022 class was all but sewn up, Mel Tucker and the staff made up some ground for a top recruit.
Before early signing day, Michigan State was making a run at four-star wide receiver Germie Bernard but the Washington commit remained with the Huskies and even signed with them.
Fast forward to January and the early enrollee is looking for a new home after being released from his Washington NLI, per a report from Justin Thind. He also mentions Michigan State being a major player for the four-star receiver who was trending toward the Spartans before signing day.
This makes sense, especially since Katin Houser cryptically tweeted out “stay tuned” just a couple of days ago which got everyone’s attention.
Bernard is one of the top receivers in the 2022 class, ranked No. 33 at the position and No. 220 overall and he would be an instant contributor for the Spartans, especially with Jalen Nailor gone.
Add Bernard to a receiver room with Jayden Reed who just announced he was returning, Tre Mosley, Keon Coleman, Antonio Gates Jr., Montorie Foster, and Tyrell Henry and you have one of the most dynamic and explosive groups in the country.
Michigan State’s offense should be just fine moving forward and while the loss of Nailor was a tough pill to swallow, adding a guy like Bernard is huge.
Payton Thorne has yet another elite target to throw to next season and it just feels like the offense is going to be scary.
Watch out for a potential commitment and signing soon as he’s supposed to enroll early.
