The rapid ascension of Michigan State’s football program under head coach Mel Tucker has truly been remarkable. How’d the Spartans win the Peach Bowl?
In only his second year in charge, Mel Tucker refused to settle for mediocrity or a methodical rise to build an elite program. Staying true to his mantra, he, his staff, and his players relentlessly worked to re-establish Michigan State football as a national power immediately after being given a full season to let his leadership permeate throughout the entire program.
The Peach Bowl victory against Pitt put an exclamation mark on what has been an incredible 2021 for Spartan football. Let’s take a final look back at the keys behind their 13th and final game of the season, a win that will create plenty of enthusiasm and positive energy in East Lansing and among the fan base moving forward.
Sure, one could argue that the outcome of the contest would have been different as Pittsburgh’s star quarterback Kenny Pickett opted out to ensure that his draft stock would remain high yet when you consider that Spartan All-American tailback Kenneth Walker III also decided to avoid an injury and begin his preparations early by electing not to play, it’s essentially a wash. Both players were equally as vital to the success of their respective teams
