Recruiting expert thinks Michigan State Football “still a factor” for Kiyaunta Goodwin
According to On3 recruiting director Chad Simmons, Michigan State football may still be a factor for five-star tackle Kiyaunta Goodwin.
Just when we thought the Early Signing Day drama was over, it looks like it’s spilled over into Thursday for Michigan State football fans.
It was an oddly stress-free day for Michigan State fans, for the most part, and then 5 p.m. ET came around and the top target on the board was announcing his final decision. It was either Michigan State or Kentucky for five-star offensive tackle Kiyaunta Goodwin.
The Charlestown, Ind., native said it was one of the toughest decisions he’s made in his life and didn’t know what he was going to do as little as 24 hours earlier.
But when he said “I’m staying home”, you could almost hear a collective sigh from the Michigan State fanbase because they knew what that meant. “Staying” meant that he wasn’t flipping. And hearing him call Kentucky home after Michigan State made a huge late push for him was a gut-punch.
Goodwin committed to Kentucky and the dream was over.
Or so we thought.
Goodwin never signed his NLI so he’s just committed at this point in time and On3 recruiting director Chad Simmons thinks that means the Spartans are still a factor.
Don’t give us hope, Chad. Don’t do it. Too late, he did it.
While Goodwin may very well sign with Kentucky by the end of the day, officially eliminating any shred of hope left, it’s still curious that he hasn’t signed and all has been quiet on his front for the past 20ish hours.
Michigan State isn’t dead yet, folks. There’s some life here, but it’s faint. The longer this stretches out, however, the better Spartan fans have to feel.
Tuck (possibly) comin’.
