Armani Winfield is someone who Michigan State desperately wants to add to the 2022 recruiting class because he’s an explosive athlete and has the potential to be a Day 1 contributor.

The 6-2, 180-pound receiver was previously committed to Texas and there was a feeling that Michigan State was surging with him for a while and when he decommitted last month, the Spartans received a handful of crystal balls for him.

Mel Tucker has put in some serious work with Winfield. But it feels like Texas and Baylor are making late surges so it’s going to be a photo finish on Wednesday.

Winfield already announced that he would be signing on Wednesday at around 4 p.m. CT and it has to be between Michigan State, Baylor, and Texas. The Spartans felt like they locked up the commitment but his Dec. 10 official to Baylor may have mucked things up a bit.

Potentially losing Jayden Reed and/or Jalen Nailor to the NFL draft means that adding a big-play receiver like Winfield will be important. He’s ranked the No. 172 overall recruit and 26th-best receiver in the class and he holds 40 offers.

Just imagine a future duo of Keon Coleman and Winfield at receiver.
