Michigan State football is just waiting for an official bowl game invite after Championship Week and here’s where the Spartans could land.

The regular season and Championship Week are both officially in the books which means the playoff rankings will be finalized on Sunday and Michigan State football will find out its postseason fate.

With Michigan beating Iowa, the Spartans are likely headed to a New Year’s Six bowl and there are a couple of potential destinations and a few possible opponents.

Let’s take a look at where Michigan State could end up this postseason and who the opponent may be.

3. Peach Bowl (vs. Pitt)

To me, this is worst-case scenario for Michigan State. If the Spartans face Pitt, it would make for a fun storyline as Pat Narduzzi vs. his former school, but that’s really the only redeemable factor about this matchup in this bowl game.

The Peach Bowl is not what Michigan State should want because it’s a Dec. 30 matchup and Pitt doesn’t have the same luster as the other teams on this list of potential scenarios.

Fortunately for Michigan State, I haven’t seen many projections for the Spartans in the Peach Bowl against Pitt, but there’s always a possibility.

Plus, this would be a bad matchup for Michigan State because Kenny Pickett is one of the nation’s best quarterbacks while the Spartans have college football’s worst secondary. This could make for a long day defensively, although the Spartans could also put up a lot of points.

This is worst-case scenario, but it’s also not the end of the world.
