The month of December isn’t quite as tough as November but Michigan State basketball will have its hands full. How will the Spartans fare?

The month of December is upon us and Michigan State basketball, which began the year unranked, has climbed all the way to No. 22 in the AP Top 25. That may not seem like a huge development, but everyone was ready to write this team off after a 13-point Champions Classic loss to Kansas, but the Spartans might be better than we thought.

Sitting at 5-2 on the year with a couple of losses to top-10 teams, Michigan State is entering a stretch of games in December against all unranked squads which could boost the Spartans’ confidence as well as their record.

Heading into January’s Big Ten play with an 11-2 record wouldn’t be all too shabby, but there’s still a lot of work to do and the Spartans would have to beat a tough Louisville team as well as Minnesota on the road and Oakland at Little Caesars Arena.

Michigan State has done well so far this season but needs to find some offense. In fact, the Spartans are 0-2 when they allow more than 70 points per game and 5-0 when they don’t give up more than 70. This trend must continue if Michigan State wants to make a deep run.

The Spartans look like one of the Big Ten’s best teams but will that continue?

Let’s take a look at how the Spartans will fare in the month of December.
